Occurrence
On 29 November 2022, an amateur-built Rotorway-type helicopter, privately registered, was conducting a local flight from a private property in the municipality of Lefebvre, Quebec. The helicopter carried only the pilot. As it was returning to the departure point, at an altitude of approximately 200 feet above ground, the aircraft broke up and crashed into a ditch separating two fields. The pilot received fatal injuries.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) investigated the accident as a Class 4 occurrence. Class 4 investigations are limited in scope and are generally completed within 220 days. According to TSB policy, such investigations do not produce formal findings or recommendations, and the final report may contain only limited analysis. In this case, the report did not state a probable cause for the accident.
