Occurrence
On 14 October 2023, a Piper PA-31-350 aircraft operated by SkyCare Air Ambulance departed from Pickle Lake Airport, Ontario, en route to Winnipeg/St. Andrews Airport, Manitoba. Prior to departure, the aircraft was refueled by a local fuelling company.
After the aircraft had departed, the fueller realized that the wrong type of fuel had been supplied. The fuelling company subsequently relayed a message to the flight crew informing them of the error.
Diversion and Landing
The aircraft's engines continued to operate, albeit with some abnormal indications. The crew decided to divert to Sioux Lookout Airport, Ontario, where the aircraft landed without further incident.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada conducted a class 4 investigation into the occurrence. Such investigations are limited in scope and do not produce findings or recommendations. The investigation concluded that the aircraft was given the incorrect type of fuel before the flight.
No injuries or damage were reported as a result of the incident.
