Occurrence
A WestJet Encore de Havilland DHC-8-400 operating flight WEN3252 from Kamloops, British Columbia, to Calgary, Alberta, experienced an in-flight emergency. The aircraft was carrying 4 crew members and 74 passengers. While en route, the flight crew detected a power loss from the no. 2 engine, which was shortly followed by a fire warning.
Emergency Response
The flight crew immediately initiated the engine fire emergency procedures. They shut down the affected engine and the propeller feathered. After completing the procedures, there were no further indications of a fire.
Diversion and Landing
The flight crew declared an emergency and diverted the aircraft to Kelowna, British Columbia. The aircraft landed at Kelowna without further issue.
