What happened

On 25 June 2023, a privately owned Savannah amphibious ultralight aircraft was performing a local flight departing from Chetwynd (CYCQ), British Columbia. The aircraft was operated by a single pilot. Around 1715 Pacific Daylight Time, the aircraft was noted as being overdue, which prompted the commencement of a search operation.

Search efforts led to the discovery of the aircraft approximately 35 nautical miles southwest of Chetwynd, situated near the shoreline of Simpson Lake. The wreckage sustained substantial damage upon impact. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
