Occurrence
On 5 January 2024, a Bell 206B helicopter departed on a recreational flight from High River Airport, Alberta, destined for a private property in Sicamous, British Columbia. The flight was conducted with only the pilot on board.
While en route, the helicopter collided with terrain approximately 11 nautical miles east-northeast of Revelstoke Airport (CYRV), British Columbia. The impact destroyed the aircraft.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) conducted a class 4 investigation into the occurrence. Class 4 investigations are limited in scope and do not produce findings or recommendations. They are typically completed within 220 days.
Damage and Injuries
The helicopter was destroyed in the collision. The pilot sustained fatal injuries.
