What happened
On 28 March 2026, a Robinson R44 helicopter, operated by Veezee Aviation Inc., began a visual flight rules flight from Fredericton International Airport, New Brunswick, destined for Sussex, New Brunswick. During the transit, the aircraft vanished from radar tracking approximately 35 nautical miles east-southeast of Fredericton. After the aircraft failed to arrive at its destination, the Joint Rescue and Coordination Centre (JRCC) initiated search and rescue operations.
Search teams located the wreckage during the early hours of 29 March 2026. The pilot, who was the only person on board, sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
The investigation
Investigators recovered the aircraft wreckage and moved it to the TSB’s regional facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, for detailed analysis. The investigation focused on the circumstances leading to the aircraft's disappearance and the subsequent discovery of the debris field.
