What happened
On 3 April 2019, a Jabiru UL-450, registration G-KEVH, was involved in an incident at Welshpool Airport in Powys, Wales. During the landing phase of the flight, the aircraft veered off the runway. Following the excursion, the aircraft struck a fence, which resulted in damage to the propeller. There were no injuries reported as a result of the event.
The investigation
The investigation sought to clarify the specific circumstances of the event following an initial incorrect report. The investigation established that the incident did not occur during the takeoff phase, as previously suggested, but rather during the landing sequence. The physical evidence confirmed that the contact with the fence occurred after the aircraft left the runway surface.
