Accident Details
On 3 May 2012 at 2155 hours UTC, a Sikorsky S-76C helicopter, registration G-WIWI, was involved in an accident at Peasmarsh, East Sussex. The incident was investigated by the AAIB as a field investigation.
Investigation and Bulletin
The AAIB conducted an investigation and published its findings in Bulletin No 12/2014. The bulletin included reference to a previous accident involving Eurocopter EC225 LP Super Puma helicopter G-REDU on 18 February 2009 near the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) in the North Sea.
Correction
Subsequently, the AAIB issued a correction to the bulletin. It stated that the initial report incorrectly described the accident to G-REDU as fatal. The correction clarified that the accident to G-REDU was not fatal. The relevant sentence on page 23 of the bulletin was revised to accurately reflect the AAIB report published on 17 September 2011. The online version of the bulletin was amended prior to publication on 11 December 2014.
The correction notice, referenced as EW/C2012/05/05, was included in AAIB Bulletin 2/2015. It specifically addressed the error and ensured that the record was corrected.
