Occurrence Details
On 29 May 2023, at 04:53 p.m. local time, a Boeing 747-400F aircraft, nationality and registration mark B-2425, operating as flight CK280 from Singapore Changi Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport, ran off the right side of the runway after landing. The aircraft was operated by China Cargo Airlines Company Limited.
Damage
The runway excursion resulted in damage to two foreign object detectors (FOD) and three runway edge lights. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the main landing gear tyres number 2 and 4, each showing a 2-centimeter diameter defect, necessitating replacement.
Injuries
There were no injuries to persons on board or on the ground.
Investigation
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand initiated an investigation into the serious incident. Notification was sent to the United States of America as the state of design and manufacture, and to the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The investigation is ongoing, with the draft final report in preparation. The final report will include the determined cause of the incident and any safety recommendations. The committee will issue preventive measures to domestic and international aviation authorities as needed.
