A China Cargo Airlines Boeing 747-400F ran off the right side of the runway during landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft's landing gear.

What happened

On 29 May 2023, at approximately 04:53 p.m., a Boeing 747-400F, registration B-2425, was operating as flight CK280 from Singapore Changi Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport. During the landing phase of the cargo operation, the aircraft ran off the right side of the runway.

The excursion caused damage to airport infrastructure, specifically destroying two foreign object debris (FOD) detectors and three runway edge lights. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the main landing gear, specifically affecting tyre numbers 2 and 4, which were found to have 2-centimeter diameter damage and required replacement. There were no injuries reported during the incident.
