On 17 June 2024, a Boeing 737-800 with registration B-6143, operated by China Eastern Airlines as flight MU9615, was completing a flight from Kunming Changshui International Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The aircraft carried 2 pilots, 6 cabin crew, and 72 passengers.
Incident Description
At 03:07 a.m. local time, during the landing on runway 01L at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the aircraft deviated from the runway centerline and veered to the right side of the runway. This resulted in damage to the runway edge lights. The aircraft itself sustained minor damage. There were no injuries or fatalities reported.
Investigation Status
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand is conducting the investigation. The committee notified the National Transportation Safety Board of the United States (NTSB) as the state of design and manufacture, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) as the state of registry and operator, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The final report, including the cause of the serious incident, has not yet been published; the investigation is in the draft final report phase. The committee intends to issue preventive measures to domestic and international aviation authorities upon completion.
