Incident Overview
On 4 April 2018 at 04:23 p.m. local time, a Boeing 737-900 (ER) aircraft, registration HS-LTM, operated by Thai Lion Mentari Company Limited as flight SL714, landed at Hat Yai International Airport. The flight originated from Don Mueang International Airport and carried a total of 206 occupants, including flight crew and passengers. After landing on runway 08, as the aircraft was preparing to exit the runway, a Hat Yai International Airport runway inspection vehicle drove in front of it at a close distance. No injuries or fatalities occurred, and the aircraft sustained no damage.
Investigation Status
The incident is classified as a serious incident under the category of near collisions requiring an avoidance maneuver to avoid an unsafe situation. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand has notified the French Republic, as the state of aircraft design and manufacture, and the International Civil Aviation Organization. The investigation is ongoing, with a draft final report in process. The final report will include the cause and preventive measures recommended to domestic and international aviation authorities.
