Introduction
On 29 August 2023, at 09:55 a.m. local time, a serious incident involving an Airbus A319 aircraft occurred at Samui International Airport. The aircraft, registered as HS-PGN, was operated by Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited as flight PG137.
Flight Details
The flight originated from Suvarnabhumi Airport (VTBS) and was destined for Samui Airport (VTSM). It carried 6 crew members and 80 passengers. The aircraft was conducting a commercial air transport operation.
Incident Description
During the landing phase on runway 17, the aircraft touched down on the displaced threshold. There was no damage to the aircraft, and no injuries were reported among the occupants.
Investigation Status
Following the serious incident, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand notified the French Republic, as the State of Aircraft Design and Manufacture, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The investigation is in process, and a final report is expected to be published. The committee will recommend preventive measures to aviation authorities domestically and internationally. The occurrence category was recorded as "Undershoot/Overshoot" (USOS).
