Accident Overview
On 22 May 2019, a Tecnam P2006T aircraft registered as HS-ROI was involved in an accident at Roi Et Airport during a flight training operation. The aircraft, operated by Thai Aviation Company Limited, was conducting a non-commercial flight training/instructional flight.
Flight Details
The flight departed Roi Et Airport at 01:00 p.m. local time for a training flight to Khon Kaen Airport. The crew consisted of an instructor pilot and a student pilot. The accident occurred at 03:30 p.m. upon return to Roi Et Airport.
Sequence of Events
During the landing phase, the student pilot did not extend the landing gear. The aircraft touched down with the landing gear retracted, scraped along the runway surface, and subsequently veered off the runway.
Damage and Injuries
The aircraft sustained substantial damage. Both the instructor pilot and student pilot were not injured.
Investigation Status
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand is conducting the investigation. An interim report has been issued, and a final report is pending. Notification was sent to the Republic of Italy as the State of Design and Manufacture. The final report will include the cause of the accident and preventive measures.
