Incident Overview
On 4 January 2020 at 4:00 p.m., a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with nationality and registration mark HS-DBT was operating Nok Airlines Public Company Limited flight DD9324 from Don Mueang International Airport to Ubon Ratchathani Airport. The aircraft was crewed by 2 pilots, 4 flight crew, and carried 135 passengers.
Sequence of Events
After taking off from Don Mueang International Airport, the aircraft climbed to an altitude of 1,500 feet. At that point, it did not turn onto the correct flight path, causing it to enter restricted areas. The aircraft sustained no damage, and there were no injuries or fatalities to any persons on board.
Investigation
Following the serious incident, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand issued a notification to the United States of America, as the State of aircraft design and manufacture, and to the International Civil Aviation Organization. The investigation remains in process, with the final report status listed as "In Process" as of July 2024, when the interim report was published. The committee has stated that the final report will be published along with the cause of the serious incident and that preventive measures will be recommended to aviation authorities domestically and internationally.
