Synopsis
On 5 November 2020 at 00:48 p.m. local time, an Airbus A320-251N aircraft, nationality and registration mark HS-CBH, operating as Thai Airasia flight FD3131 from Narathiwat Airport to Don Mueang International Airport, experienced a serious incident. The aircraft carried two pilots, four flight crew, and 122 passengers.
Sequence of Events
As the aircraft climbed from flight level 200 (FL200) to FL300, the Electronic Centralised Aircraft Monitor (ECAM) displayed a pressurisation warning message. Subsequently, the pressure in the passenger cabin rose from 7,600 feet to 11,000 feet in approximately 3 seconds. The flight crew initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet and used their oxygen masks. The aircraft flew and landed safely at Don Mueang International Airport.
Injuries and Damage
There were no injuries or fatalities. The damage section of the report notes that the Skin Air Outlet Valve (SAOV) was damaged, while the synopsis states that the aircraft was not damaged.
Investigation
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand notified the French Republic, as the State of aircraft design and manufacture, and the International Civil Aviation Organization. The investigation is in process, and the final report will be published along with the cause of the serious incident. The committee will recommend preventive measures to aviation authorities both domestically and internationally.
