What happened
On 8 October 2018, at approximately 10:48 p.m., a Boeing 747-400, registration HS-TGF, was operating flight TG679 from Guangzhou Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The aircraft, operated by Thai Airways Public Company Limited, was carrying 97 passengers and 18 crew members.
Upon landing on runway 19R at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the aircraft touched down on the runway surface but subsequently deviated from the left side of the runway centerline. The aircraft exited the runway and came to a stop on the grass within the runway strip near exit sign E13.
The impact resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft, specifically affecting engines 1 through 4, the landing gear, tyres, and brakes. There were no injuries or fatalities among the passengers or crew.
The investigation
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee (AAIC) of Thailand initiated an investigation into the occurrence. As the state of design and manufacture, the United States of America was notified of the accident, along with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). At the time of this interim report, the investigation was in the process of drafting the final report.
