What happened
On 28th October, 2023, a EUROFLY S.r.l. FIREFOX 503 microlight, registration 5B-HBS, was involved in an accident at the “Glytzia Nera” area near Marki village, specifically in the vicinity of the Dedalos landing strip. The aircraft, manufactured in 2005, struck the ground during its flight.
The investigation
The investigation was conducted by the Cyprus Air Accident and Incident Investigation Board (AAIIB) to determine the circumstances leading to the occurrence. The inquiry examined wreckage information, including the state of the left and right wings and instrument readings. Investigators also analyzed the impact site at the top of a hill and reviewed meteorological conditions present at the time of the accident. The investigation confirmed that the aircraft weight was below 2250 kg and found no issues regarding airworthiness or matters of interest to other States.
