What happened
On 08 September 2022, at approximately 18:32 UTC, a Cessna 510 Citation Mustang was performing an air taxi operation when it experienced a runway excursion at Antwerp/Deurne Airport (EBAW). The aircraft, which had departed from Paris-Le Bourget (LFPB), was attempting to land on runway 11. During the landing phase, the aircraft failed to stop within the runway limits and overshot the pavement, eventually coming to a stop within the runway strip.
The investigation
The Air Accident Investigation Unit (Belgium) initiated a safety investigation into the incident. The investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the landing at EBAW and the factors leading to the aircraft exiting the runway. At the time of the progress statement, the investigation was in its final stages, with the authorities preparing the draft report for review by relevant Belgian, Austrian, and US agencies.
