Accident Overview
On July 3, 2023, a Cessna Textron U206G aircraft, registration HR-NCH, serial number U20606870, operated by Aero Caribe de Honduras S. de R.L., was involved in an accident during the landing phase at Puerto Lempira Aerodrome (MHPL), Department of Gracias a Dios, Honduras. The aircraft had departed from Golosón International Airport (MHLC) in La Ceiba at approximately 19:00 UTC, destined for MHPL. The accident occurred at about 18:40 UTC (12:40 local time) on runway 09 PLP.
Collision and Sequence
According to the preliminary report from the Agencia Hondureña de Aeronáutica Civil (AHAC) Commission for Investigation of Aviation Accidents and Incidents, the accident resulted from a collision due to a runway incursion by an external vehicle within the aeronautical zone of the aerodrome. The aircraft struck the vehicle during landing, leading to the deaths of two persons on board.
Aircraft Damage
The aircraft sustained damage to its right front structure, including the engine mount support, engine cowling, nose cap, and alternator belt. The aircraft, a 1985 model with a single Continental IO-520-F(64) engine, had a maximum takeoff weight of 3,600 lbs and was configured for commercial operations with a passenger capacity of six. At the time of the accident, two persons were on board.
Investigation Status
