What happened
During a flight originating from RAF Chilbolton, a twin-engine airplane collided mid-air with an RAF Miles Master registered W8453. At the time of the incident, both aircraft were carrying two-person crews. The impact caused both planes to lose control and dive into the ground, ultimately crashing in an open field situated near Calne. The force of the impact destroyed both aircraft completely.
The accident resulted in fatal injuries for everyone on board. All four crew members across the two aircraft lost their lives in the crash. The specific individuals involved included the pilot and co-pilot of the twin-engine aircraft, as well as the two-person crew aboard the Miles Master.
