Flight Details

At approximately 17:55 UTC, the flight made first contact with Oran approach, reporting visual on the runway. The approach controller instructed the crew to proceed for a left downwind and transferred communications to the tower on frequency 118.1 for landing. The crew acknowledged a left downwind for runway 7R. At 17:56 UTC, the crew contacted the tower and was asked to report north downwind for runway 7R.

Despite these instructions, the aircraft subsequently landed on runway 7L, which was closed by NOTAM. After landing, the aircraft was escorted to the parking area by a follow-me vehicle. No injuries were recorded, and the aircraft sustained no damage.

Investigation

A technical investigation commission was established by the Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The occurrence was notified to the French BEA (as the state of design) and ICAO. The BEA did not designate an accredited representative. Investigators listened to the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and air-ground communication recordings on 6–7 June 2017. An interim report was issued on 2 July 2017, and the final report was published on 2 April 2018.
