What happened
During a cargo transport mission traveling from El Obeid to Juba, an aircraft experienced a critical mechanical failure while cruising at 17,000 feet. The crew reported a simultaneous failure of all four engines, prompting them to declare an emergency. In an attempt to reach safety, the flight crew initiated a diversion toward Heglig Airport.
Shortly after the emergency declaration, the aircraft went down in a forested region situated approximately 50 km south of Kaduqli. The impact resulted in the deaths of all four occupants on board.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the accident was the total failure of all four engines during the cruise phase of flight.
