On a night cargo flight departing from Pointe-Noire Airport at 04:00 local time, an aircraft carrying a diverse cargo load was en route to Brazzaville. The shipment included food supplies, one minibus, and three automobiles. In addition to the crew, there was one passenger on board the flight.

As the aircraft was performing its final approach to Brazzelleville-Maya Maya Airport, it was flying at an altitude of approximately 2,000 feet. During this phase of flight, the four-engine plane lost stability and went out of control. The aircraft subsequently crashed in the vicinity of Nganga Lingolo, located roughly 11 km before reaching runway 05.
