What happened
A cargo flight operating from Glasgow-Prestwick to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, was en route with scheduled stops in Ghardaïa and Tamanrasset. The aircraft was transporting oil equipment and was operated by a crew of seven.
Shortly after departing from Tamanrasset-Aguenar-Hadj Bey Akhamok Airport, the aircraft disappeared from radio communications. Approximately three minutes after takeoff, the flight was lost. The wreckage was located a few hours after the disappearance in a mountainous region situated roughly 15 km south of the airport. The impact and subsequent fire destroyed the aircraft, and all seven crew members were killed in the accident.
Findings
The investigation noted that the aircraft was destroyed by the forces of impact and a post-crash fire. The loss of communication occurred almost immediately following the departure from the airfield.
