What happened
A cargo flight operating from Brazzaville-Maya Maya Airport to Pointe-Noire ended in a disaster during the landing phase. The four-engine airplane was transporting a cargo of 750 kilograms of meat along with a total of nine people, consisting of four crew members and five passengers.
As the aircraft was performing its final approach to runway 17 at Pointe-Noire Airport, the plane experienced a sudden right-side roll. This maneuver caused the aircraft to become inverted before it struck the ground. The impact occurred in the Mvoumvou residential district, approximately 4 kilometers before reaching the runway threshold.
The crash resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and caused significant damage to several nearby homes. The accident led to a total of 23 fatalities, comprising all nine people on board and 14 individuals residing on the ground.
Findings
During the descent and approach, the aircraft underwent an uncontrolled roll to the right, which led to the plane flipping upside down and crashing into a populated area.
