No fatalities • Tobys, Russia • Flight

An aircraft traveling from Ukhta to Syktyvkar crashed following an engine power loss, resulting in no fatalities among the ten people on board.

What happened

A flight departing from Ukhta Airport for Syktyvkar was carrying two crew members and eight passengers at the time of the accident. Approximately twelve minutes after takeoff, while the aircraft was maintaining a cruising altitude of 300 meters, the engine experienced a loss of power. This failure caused the engine to windmill down to 400 rpm.

Following the power loss, the crew attempted to feather the propeller but were unsuccessful in doing so. In an effort to manage the emergency, the pilot attempted to perform an emergency landing within a nearby prairie. During this maneuver, the aircraft collided with trees and came to rest at the edge of a forest, roughly 1,200 meters away from a railway line. Although the impact resulted in the aircraft being destroyed beyond repair, all ten occupants were successfully rescued several hours after the crash.
