What happened
During an international expedition known as 'Great Circle', a charter flight was operating from Uelen toward Bukhta Provideniya. The flight was transporting a crew of two pilots, four passengers, and a large amount of equipment including 28 sled dogs.
Shortly after departing from the airfield, the aircraft type (unspecified) reached an altitude of approximately 30 meters. During this climb, the aircraft entered a high angle of attack, which led to an aerodynamic stall. The plane subsequently impacted the frozen, snow-covered surface of a lagoon, located roughly 725 meters from the takeoff site. The accident resulted in one fatality and six injuries among the occupants.
Findings
Investigation of the flight path indicates that the aerodynamic stall was the primary factor leading to the impact with the lagoon surface.
