What happened
During an approach to Moscow-Domodedovo Airport, the flight crew encountered challenging weather conditions characterized by marginal visibility. Despite the degraded visual conditions, the crew proceeded with the descent instead of performing a go-around maneuver. This decision led to the aircraft impacting the ground to the right of runway 14R, specifically in the area situated between the runway edge and the perimeter fence.
While the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss, there were no casualties reported. All 28 occupants successfully evacuated the aircraft without injury.
Findings
- The primary factor in the incident was the crew's decision to continue the descent despite encountering poor visibility that necessitated a go-around.
