What happened
A cargo operation departing from Lima-Jorge Chávez Airport ended in a fatal accident over the Andes mountains. The flight, which was scheduled to transit from Lima to Las Malvinas (Sabeti) with an estimated duration of 78 minutes, departed at 1009LT.
Approximately 32 minutes after takeoff, while the aircraft was cruising at FL195, the crew experienced a loss of control. The aircraft type crashed into a mountainous area situated near Tomas. Search teams located the wreckage the following day. There were four fatalities and no survivors among the occupants of the plane.
Findings
The investigation determined that the aircraft lost control while operating over the Andes mountain range during the cruise phase of the flight.
