A cargo flight was being operated from Magadan to Anadyr on behalf of the Federal Border Guard Aviation Command. The aircraft carried 11 passengers, seven crew members, and a load of helicopter spare parts.

Accident Sequence

On final approach to Anadyr, the pilot informed air traffic control about the failure of the right engine. The pilot elected to make an emergency landing. The aircraft crash landed in a field located 4 kilometers short of the runway. During touchdown, the undercarriage was torn off, and the aircraft slid for several dozen meters before coming to rest.
