What happened
While returning to Kinshasa-N'Djili Airport, an aircraft was transporting election equipment and materials from Tshikapa on behalf of the Independent National Election Commission. During the approach to runway 06, the crew had received clearance to descend to an altitude of 5,000 feet.
As the flight progressed, the aircraft encountered heavy rainfall and degraded weather conditions. Due to the limited visibility caused by the storm, the plane struck hilly terrain located roughly 35 km west of the airport. Search efforts located the wreckage several hours after the impact. There were seven fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft.
