On final approach to Xieng Khouang Airport, an aircraft descended too low, impacting trees and crashing in a dense wooded area approximately 1,500 meters short of the runway. The aircraft burst into flames upon impact. The crash and subsequent fire destroyed the aircraft.

Victims

The accident resulted in the deaths of 14 occupants at the scene. Three others were injured, including a nurse. One day later, two of the injured survivors died from their injuries, leaving the nurse as the only survivor.

Passengers

Among the passengers were members of the Laotian Government traveling to Xieng Khouang to attend a celebration of the creation of the 2nd Division of the Laotian Army.
