What happened
During the month of October 2006, an aircraft was performing its landing sequence when it failed to decelerate sufficiently within the available runway length. Due to the insufficient remaining distance, the aircraft overran the end of the runway.
As a result of the overrun, the aircraft experienced the loss of its nose landing gear. The impact and subsequent movement caused damage to both propellers. Despite the significant impact, all five occupants managed to exit the aircraft without sustaining any injuries. The aircraft was subsequently determined to be a total loss, as the damage was beyond repair.
Findings
- The aircraft was unable to come to a complete stop before the end of the paved surface.
- The primary factor in the accident was the inability to stop the aircraft within the remaining runway distance.
