Incident Overview
A positioning flight from Moscow-Sheremetyevo Airport to Moscow-Vnukovo Airport experienced a landing gear malfunction during approach. The crew was operating under night conditions.
Sequence of Events
While configuring the aircraft for landing, the crew discovered that the right main landing gear had failed to extend and remained stuck in its wheel well. They entered a holding pattern while the runway at Vnukovo was prepared with a layer of foam to reduce friction and the risk of sparks. The emergency landing was subsequently executed.
During touchdown, the aircraft veered to the right, causing the right wing to make contact with the ground. The airplane slid for several dozen meters before coming to a stop.
Aftermath
Both pilots evacuated the aircraft without injury. The aircraft itself sustained damage deemed beyond economical repair.
