Incident Overview
An aircraft operating a flight from Roatán conducted an approach to San Pedro Sula Airport Runway 04. The approach was uneventful until after touchdown, when the pilot applied the brakes. At that point, the aircraft experienced controllability problems, veering off the runway to the left.
Sequence of Events
The aircraft traversed a grassy area adjacent to the runway, during which it lost its undercarriage. It continued moving until its nose came to rest in a drainage ditch located approximately 40 meters to the left of the runway centerline.
Occupants and Damage
All 19 occupants on board evacuated the aircraft without injury. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and was declared beyond economical repair.
