What happened
While performing the takeoff roll at Yacuiba Airport, the right engine of the aircraft experienced a loss of power once the plane reached V2 speed. Following this mechanical failure, the captain elected to proceed with the takeoff sequence. During the initial climb phase, the flight crew determined that an emergency return was necessary. To manage the situation, the crew deactivated the right engine and feathered the propeller.
Upon returning to the airfield, the aircraft landed on runway 20. However, the pilot was unable to bring the plane to a halt within the available runway length. The aircraft overran the end of the runway, resulting in the loss of the nose landing gear. The excursion continued into the surrounding terrain, where the plane struck bushes and small trees, eventually coming to a stop approximately 50 metres beyond the runway threshold.
Findings
