Synopsis
On 28 October 2017, an Airbus A320-214, registration CN-NMH, operated by Air Arabia Maroc, was being prepared for flight 3O103 from Fes-Saiss Airport (FEZ) to London Gatwick (LGW). While positioned at parking stand R11, a catering truck from a ground handling company was supplying the aircraft. During the descent of the truck's lift system, the right front door (R1) was struck and damaged by the mechanism's stop.
Event Details
The incident occurred around 17:20 local time. The catering truck was in contact with the aircraft, and as the driver maneuvered the lift system, the door was damaged. The aircraft's mechanics assessed the damage, and the captain decided to cancel the flight and disembark all passengers. The aircraft received a temporary repair and departed on a technical ferry flight the next day, 29 October 2017, to Casablanca Mohammed V Airport for permanent repairs.
Damage
The door sustained a dent and crack on the lower rear corner, and a portion of the sealing gasket was missing. The catering truck's lift system was also damaged.
Injuries and Occupants
No injuries were reported among the crew or the 126 passengers on board.

Meteorological conditions at the time were clear with good visibility. Wind directions varied, but no significant weather was present.
Probable Cause
The investigation determined that the cause of the incident was the non-compliant maneuvering of the catering truck's lift system by its driver.
