What happened
On March 18, 2016, a chartered flight operated by Aircraft Sales and Services (Private) Limited was departing from Karachi, destined for Sui. The aircraft, a Beechcraft-1900D with registration AP-BII, commenced its takeoff from runway 25L at approximately 08:20 local time.
During the initial climb phase, the flight crew detected a loss of power in the right-hand engine. In response to the emergency, the crew performed a gear-up landing on the right side of the runway centerline. Upon making contact with the ground, the aircraft veered off the runway toward the right before correcting back onto the paved surface. The aircraft eventually came to a halt 1,050 feet before the runway threshold.
As a result of the heavy impact during the landing, the captain and one passenger sustained serious injuries. The remaining passengers and a technician on board were not injured during the incident.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the emergency landing was the loss of power in the right engine immediately following takeoff.
