What happened
During an approach to runway 23, the crew of a twin-engine aircraft failed to properly configure the plane for landing. This error resulted in the aircraft touching down significantly further down the 1,600-meter runway than intended. Upon realizing that the remaining runway length was insufficient to bring the plane to a safe stop, the crew maneuvered the aircraft off the paved surface.
The aircraft exited the runway and traveled onto an adjacent grassy area, where it eventually came to a halt. Despite the impact, all 12 occupants were able to evacuate the aircraft without injury. The aircraft sustained damage that was determined to be beyond repair.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the excursion was an incorrect approach configuration.
- The landing distance required exceeded the available runway length due to the late touchdown point.
