What happened
During the initial climb phase following departure from Pasco-Tri-Cities Airport, the aircraft entered a high angle of attack accompanied by a nose-high attitude. This flight profile led to an aerodynamic stall, causing the plane to crash near the airfield. The impact resulted in a massive explosion upon contact with the ground. There were two fatalities among the crew members on board.
Findings
Investigations into the accident identified several critical mechanical and procedural issues. It was determined that the aircraft's pitch trim was set to a full nose-up position, which contributed to the steep upward pitch immediately after takeoff. Additionally, the pilot-in-command's seat was found in an unlocked state and positioned at the far aft limit of the tracks. The accident was attributed to improper flight control operation by the co-pilot and insufficient preflight preparations performed by the pilot.
