What happened
Approximately 12 minutes following its departure from Maracaibo-La Chinita Airport, a twin engine airplane experienced an uncontrolled descent. While maintaining an altitude of 10,000 feet, the aircraft fell into Lake Maracaibo. The impact with the water caused the airframe to disintegrate. The flight was traveling toward its destination at Porlamar-Del Caribe-General en Jefe Santiago Mariño Airport when the incident occurred.
Findings
There were 8 fatalities recorded as a result of the crash, with no survivors among the occupants. The investigation into the crash sequence indicates that the aircraft entered a loss of control during the climb or cruise phase of the flight.
