What happened
A twin-engine airplane was performing an ambulance flight from Roswell Air Center to Ruidoso when it crashed in the Capitan Mountains. The aircraft was traveling with two pilots and two passengers at the time of the accident. The impact occurred approximately 30 km northeast of the Ruidoso-Sierra Blanca Airport. Following the crash, the aircraft caught fire and was completely destroyed. There were four fatalities among the occupants.
