Incident Overview
A twin-engine airplane conducting a flight from Tuxtla Gutiérrez-Francisco Sarabia Airport to Palenque Airport crashed during the approach phase. The crew had initiated descent into Palenque under conditions of limited visibility. The aircraft subsequently struck the wooded slope of Cerro Norte, approximately 12 kilometers southwest of the destination airport. The impact caused the airplane to disintegrate.
Occupants
The aircraft carried seven individuals, all of whom were killed. The crew consisted of pilot Roberto Villanueva Valdez and copilot Carlos Alberto Culebro Esquinca. The passengers were Federal Deputy Juan Pablo Montes de Oca; his wife, Guillermina Rincón Cruz; his daughter, Sofía Montes de Oca; his son, Pablo Montes de Oca; his sister, Rosalía; and two nephews, Daniela and Eduardo.
Accident Location
The accident site was located in the Cerro Norte area, southwest of Palenque Airport. The terrain was wooded, consistent with the region's landscape.
