What happened
During the descent toward Yurimaguas-Moisés Benzaquen Rengifo Airport, the right engine of the aircraft experienced an explosion and ignited a fire. The crew attempted to suppress the flames, but the fire eventually spread to the right wing. In response to the emergency, the crew performed a descent to find a suitable landing site.
The aircraft attempted an emergency landing in the vicinity of Pongo de Caynarachi, located approximately 50 km south of the destination airport. During the landing sequence, the undercarriage failed, causing the aircraft to slide for several dozen meters. Following the slide, the vehicle caught fire and was completely destroyed.
