Incident Overview
During cruise flight, the crew reported a double engine failure to air traffic control and was cleared to divert to the nearest airport for an emergency landing. However, the aircraft could not maintain a safe altitude. The pilot-in-command subsequently attempted to land in a field. During the landing attempt, the airplane struck trees and crashed.
Casualties and Injuries
The accident resulted in the deaths of four passengers and the pilot. Three other occupants sustained injuries.
Official Probable Cause
The investigation determined the probable cause to be a double engine failure in flight for an undetermined reason. Additionally, the engines would not airstart for an unknown reason.
