Accident Overview
On final approach to Billings-Logan Airport, an aircraft experienced an engine failure. The flight crew lost control, and the airplane crashed into a house, resulting in a post-impact fire. The aircraft was destroyed, and all four occupants on board were killed.
Sequence of Events
While on final approach, one of the engines failed. The crew was unable to maintain control, and the aircraft descended into a residential area, striking a house. The impact and subsequent fire destroyed the aircraft.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the accident was caused by a mismanagement of fuel by the flight crew. Inadequate supervision of the flight led to fuel starvation. Contributing factors included improper emergency procedures, partial loss of power on one engine, complete engine failure/flameout on one engine, and a fire after impact.
