Fatal Ultralight Aircraft Accident at Montabaur Glider Field

Incident Overview and Flight Sequence On June 12, 2021, at 15:51 local time, a Breezer B400-6 ultralight aircraft took off from runway 23 at the Montabaur glider field for a local flight. The aircraft, carrying a pilot and a passenger, lifted off after a 130-meter takeoff roll. Shortly after becoming airborne, the pilot initiated a left turn with a bank angle of approximately 30 degrees and began a climb. The flight path was reconstructed using a witness video and testimonies. Approximately 17 seconds after liftoff, the aircraft was at an altitude of 150 feet above ground level, traveling at 135 km/h. The bank angle subsequently increased to over 60 degrees, and the aircraft's nose dropped below the horizon. Twenty-one seconds after liftoff, the aircraft collided with a wooded area at a low speed and caught fire. The pilot was killed, and the passenger escaped with serious injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.
