What happened
On January 18, 1925, a crew departed Toussus-le-Noble Airport in France with the objective of exploring new air routes to Madagascar. The aircraft, identified as the Blériot 135 and named 'Jean Casale', completed a series of intermediate stops at Perpignan, Oran, Colomb-Béchar, Gao, and Niamey.
While attempting to take off from Niamey, the aircraft lost control for unknown reasons and crashed. The accident resulted in one fatality, as the radio operator was killed. Both pilots sustained serious injuries, while the mechanic escaped without harm.
Findings
The specific cause of the loss of control during the departure phase remains unknown according to available records. The Blériot 135 was a rare four-engine variant derived from the Blériot 115 design, with only one example ever built.
