What happened
While performing a takeoff roll on runway 14 at Dhaka-Zia Ul-Haq Airport, the flight crew encountered an unforeseen issue. In response to the situation, the captain elected to abort the takeoff procedure. Despite the decision to stop, the aircraft could not decelerate sufficiently within the available 3,200-meter runway length.
As a result of the insufficient stopping distance, the aircraft exited the runway and continued for approximately 450 meters beyond the pavement. During the excursion, the aircraft sustained damage to its undercarriage. The incident resulted in zero fatalities and zero injuries among the five crew members on board. The aircraft was subsequently declared a total loss due to damage sustained during the event.
Findings
- The primary factor in the overrun was the inability to stop the aircraft within the remaining runway distance following the aborted takeoff.
