Incident Overview
On 9 November 1997 at 2000 hours UTC, a Boeing 767 aircraft, registration S7 AAS, was involved in an incident at Gatwick Airport, Gatwick, Surrey. The aircraft was operating a public transport flight. The incident occurred during pushback when the rear steps were being removed.
Sequence of Events
The pushback crew received permission from an aircraft steward to remove the rear steps. As the steps were moved a few feet away from the aircraft, a security guard fell from the rear door.
